Camping Solliden: Sleep under apple trees by the sea!

This place was a real find! It is located in the beautiful Turku area archipelago in the South-Western part of Finland. An Israeli family runs the place. They speek several languages; are able to serve at least in Finnish, Swedish, English and Hebrew and perhaps many more languages. They were helpful and cheerful smiling people.

We fell in love with the small place immediately. It is amazingly well taken care of. All green grass areas were tidy and cut, no rubbish anywhere, public areas (showers, toilets, kitchen, bar-b-q places etc.) were very clean.

They have the usual selection of accommodation and services: tent places, places for caravans, and many kinds of different level and size wooden cottages. They have two or three saunas in use depending on the season, at a very reasonable price.

The blue-grey tiny cottages were awesome. They were located in a green grass under several apple trees, which was very cosy. You could eat apples from the trees, the keeper told. You could actually smell the apples!
There was running cold water + basin, electricity (heating, fridge, cooker, lights) in the cottage. Also place for clothes, beds, a sofa and a wooden old-fashioned table.-and-chairs combination. There is a table and chairs to sit outside the cottage too.

The main sauna was great, even though it was heated by electricity and not by wood. You can book it only for yourself/your companion/family for an hour at a low cost. Then you have private showers (warm water also), sauna - the whole building for you only. You can sit outside in the wooden benches and wonder the very beatiful view: the sauna is namely located on a hill and you can see the sea! There is also a place made for swimming from sauna.

There is also a strange thing - a Finnish phenomenon - to try if you want to - the Finnish barrel sauna! There are no showers nor other rooms inside, just the sauna room. It can be moved from place to another, if needed, by pulling it behind a truck!

The sandy beach is clean and beautiful - no Coca Cola ads or sun beds; everything is natural looking.
