Accommodation

by sabsi

Hi!

I'll be in Seinajoki for Provinssirock Festival this summer. We do not fancy camping so we would like to find some other accommodation there. Does anybody know a nice and not too expensive place where we could stay?

Kiitoksia paljon!
Sabs

You asked the impossible question, there is no NICE place in Seinajoki, there is no Not So Expensive in Finland. LOL
Anyhow, did you check the following link?

Hi,
Provinssirock's own pages, at www.provinssirock.fi give more info, go to english pages->accomondation.
Seem to have school-alternative for 10 euros... etc.

Re: Re: Accommodation

Thanks!

I had a look at provinssirock page before and must have overlooked the accommodation section. probably because i was trying to read the finnish version ;)

Gil.... you know that you are wrong eh? ;)

Re: Re: Accommodation

Well, Sabsi, if you do not mind share your space with hundreds drunken kids, he he, but I guess it is anyway one of the reasons why you are coming to Finland anyway ;-)

PS: I should open a bottle of something, Keti agreed with me on something :-)))

Re: Re: Accommodation

by Gili_S

Sabsi, I was just checking the list of artists at the festival and I figure it out that cant be you bought ticket for it, it must be that you have a VIP invitation :-)

Re: Re: Accommodation

by Saarimuori

I don't think Sabs would be going to any festival if she wasn't prepared to share her space with drunken kids.
Anyways, the most drunken never find their way back to the school, and most of them prefer the camping area because they want to be where everybody else is.
And Sabs, I read from your homepage that you love to take your own car: buy a van and you don't have to worry about accommodation, not during the summers anyway (Toyota Lite-ace was my home away from home for a few years).
Nice to see that Seinäjoki has brought Keti and Gili closer together:)

PS. If you want to share your space with drunken adults for change, check Pori Jazz festival: Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Macy Gray...

Re: Re: Accommodation

by sabsi

HAHAHA I wouldnt want to seen near Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys or Macy Gray ;-)

I think I prefer David Bowie and Teitur. Too bad that the drunken kids prefer that stuff, too ;-)

Re: Re: Accommodation

by Saarimuori

I don't think kids go to Seinäjoki to listen to Bowie or Teitur. Looking at the list of performers, you'll have a lot of (trash)metal fans to share your space with.
Hopefully this helps:

Re: Re: Accommodation

HAHA we will ignore the trash metal bits. i like most of the finnish bands that will be there so that should be interesting :)

thanks for the mosh link.... hahaha good one!

Oh, Sabs shall rock away in Seinäjoki?!! Cool!
I suggest you to buy a scuba diving suit. With that you can sleep where ever you lay your head(or fall asleep drunken as hell as usually...;-))
Just kidding!
Whats wrong with camping with finnish youth? Is there any better chance to learn finnish? Is there?

Gil, i cheers with you!!! :-)

Re: Re: Accommodation

by sabsi

Kimmo, there's nothing wrong with camping with Finnish youth, there something wrong with camping in general ;-)

Re: Re: Accommodation

Gil,

unfortunately i dont have a VIP invitation (yet)... but I'd love to have one. Just to use the luxury backstage toilets as usual tho ;)

Re: Re: Accommodation

Ah, you are so cultivated that camping doesnt suites you? :-)
I understand, i dont like camping either, especially in places where are lots of people drunk(i have been twice in Roskilde, i know what i am saying here...).
But, in the deep forest it is just great to sleep in tent and sat round the campfire. Well, now i am missing the point here!
I dont know any accomodation in Seinäjoki! Have you tried any cottages in camping sites? There should be some in Seinäjoki also.

Re: Accommodation

Re: Re: Accommodation

Just to verify, I was checking and saw that there is not a single tip on Seinajoki by VT Members, not surprising, I was there myself ones, cannot recall anything, but Sabs, remember to take notes & pictures while there, you will have the change to change it here after June :-)

Re: Re: Accommodation

by sabsi

Maybe we shouldn't meet in HKI then but in Seinäjoki.
HEHE a meeting in a place nobody has been before. Now that sounds strange (But VT would get more pages than just mine ;)

Re: Re: Accommodation

by Gili_S

He he he, dont even dream that I will make it there, and, just for the fun I was checking flights: Helsinki-Seinajoki which is 175 Euro.
Compare it to the only 50 Euro that will cost me to fly to Niederrhein, and with the 125 Euro that I save, how many beers I can have at the Uerige? :-))))))

Re: Re: Accommodation

by sabsi

Approximately 100 ;-)

Talking of prices. Do you happen to know a site like www.bahn.de for finnish rail service?

kiitos :)

Re: Accommodation

In case you haven't found accommodation yet, you can always try South Ostrobothnia Tourist Service (if you haven't already done that).
http://www.epmatkailu.fi/
They must know if there are - for example - private rooms available during Provinssirock. Welcome to Seinäjoki! If you have any questions about traveling to South Ostrobothnia region I'm glad to help you (I live in Seinäjoki).

Re: Re: not so bad

by Blondiina

I'm originally from an even smaller town just beside Seinäjoki and I have to say it is not any worse there than in any other small town in Finland or in Europe.

Silly me, I don't remember anymore if anyone mentioned this before, but there is a summer hostel called Kortteeri and it shouldn't be expencive. Tel. +35864204817.

Re: Re: not so bad

Hei!

Thanks for the new tips. I'll ask my "organisers" and see whether they have found a place to stay yet. If not, I'll let them know your tips!!

Kiitoksia Paljon!
