A small town between see and Lapland wilderness
"Something about my home district"
Kemi is a little town on the corner of the Gulf of Bothnia. The life here is very quite and simple.
People are little taciturn but friendly.
In the spring and summer of the year 1799 Italian Guiseppe Acerbi with his party wandered through Finnish and Lappish wilderness to the North Cape.
Later Acerbi published a comprehensive volume in English in which he described the nature, people and customs of Finland.
Next little citation of his experiences:
An honest and serious nation
Acerbi followed with great interest, both with admiration and amazement, the customs and habits of the Ostrobothnian people. He saw how hard-working and cleanliness loving the people were. Seriousness in all their occupations was characteristic of them: play and joy were not part of the socializing ways of even the youth. Sighing and sensitivity do not seem belong to the being of the river valley inhabitants. However, Acerbi is informed of suicides and violent confrontations caused by jealousy. Thefts and other crimes are unknown and not feared of.
And I think nothing has changed of those days.
This district is some kind mix of coastal area and wilderness of Lapland where you can feel a really silence. About fife month in the year the see is covering of ice and length of daylight varies 2 to 24 hour / day.
On my mind best thing here is our four different seasons.

2100km..damn..far away from home!
