I traveled with my friends on January 28, 2012, and stayed two nights. We wanted something cheap, because we are students and we can not afford a lot of money. This establishment was the cheapest we found in the city for these dates, and we were expecting something according to its price compared with other Rovaniemi hotels. But what a surprise to see such a beautiful place.
It is true that this is a family that has a plot with two houses, renting one as B & B, so there is only one room that can hold up to 4 people comfortably, and possibly 5, as we saw a folding bed hidden.
As a good Finnish house, there is a sauna. It is just 6 feet from the front door, so if you want to roll in the snow it's possible. Both the sauna and bathroom were very clean.
In-room TV, a kitchenette and a fireplace. The landlady charges 5 € for a huge basket of wood (Which by the way, smelled quite good) ready to make it burn, enough to have two nights in a row with a good fire. Anyway, it is not necessary since the house has a very effective heating system.
The beds are two beds and a double, I tried the top bunk. Knowing enough beds in hotels in Europe, these were very comfortable.
The property is at an acceptable distance from the center of the city, although in winter, remember that it is in Lapland, and it will for sure be cold. Finding bus stops leading to Santa Claus Village, perhaps the most striking attraction of the city, is very simple. There is a mall and several nearby museums.
Best of all, we arrived very early in the morning. There was the landlady waiting for us, gave us all kinds of information about the city and invited us to a cup of tea or coffee, as well let us to leave our luggage there, when the check-in is usually done after 14 hours.
For a trip with friends is fine, for a family trip, I think it's better, and for a couple "romantic" trip I think it is great.

Unique Quality: This is where I stayed in Rovaniemi! (picture is from website) with 2 friends in September 2002. It has an open plan kitchenette, livingroom and a double bunk bed (one above the other) and a sofa that turns into a bed. Separate bathroom and sauna.
You can use the garden and park the car on the drive.
Breakfast is in the main house with a delightful young family.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!
