linnunlahti camping: nice campsite
we spent two nights here. it's a nice and quiet area, a big flat ground to put up the tents. out in the green or into the trees. there are also some cottages and the sanitary buildings are ok. there's a great kitchen, with good facilities.
you have the lake just round the site, it's great.
and it's also easy and fast to go to the city centre on foot.

Unique Quality: you can rent bikes, scooter, water-boats and go to the sauna.

I haven't needed to use hotels...
I haven't needed to use hotels in Joensuu but some of my friends recommend this place, Summerhotel Joensuun Elli
Room for one 35 € (30 USD), room for two 50 € (43 USD), room for three 66 € (56 USD).
Buffet breakfast included
Unique Quality: Peaceful location within a walking distance from the city center.
80 rooms including non-smoking rooms.
Rooms have shower, toilet, refrigerator and cooking recess (no dishes).
Some of the rooms are suitable for the handicapped.
Sauna is heated on request.
Laundrette in the hotel.
