Chalet-type hotel with a good restaurant.

This is a member of the Logis de France chain and can be booked through the Logis web site. The URL is http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/ or you can check the hotel web site listed below.

It is out of town up the hill (actually Mt. St. Odile) underneath the Chateau d'Andlau. A little stream runs through the property and it is very shaded and pleasant.

There is no elevator but the ambiance more than makes up for the climb. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms lovely. The view can't be beat. You can eat in the restaurant or you can have snacks outside by the little stream. Great place for an evening kir or glass of wine!

We've stayed here three or four times now and will always go back. The setting is charming and very convenient for touring Alsace and the Black Forest region of Germany. The staff are very good and the restaurant is excellent.

Unique Quality: Great location. Shady, pleasant, out-in-the-country feeling but a short drive to town. If you like hiking or biking, you are there.

We once had the top room which had a balcony with a table and chairs on one side and two lounge chairs on the other side. The last few times we've opted for smaller, less expensive rooms, but if you like balconies, ask for the top room with the balcony. It's very large and the view is great.

The hotel is not a chateau. The Chateau d'Andlau is a "real" chateau and is up the road from the hotel. The hotel is like a Swiss chalet, albeit a very large one, and rather cosy.

Good breakfast and excellent restaurant.
