Travel Tips for Barr

Kirchberg de Barr

by traveloturc

Situated on the northern outskirts of the town of Barr, the Kirchberg extends over 40,63 ha of the Vosges foothills to the east of the Champ-du-Feu massif, at an elevation ranging from 215 to 315 metres, with a beautiful southeast exposure.
Kirchberg Grand Cru wines reveal great nobility. Less precocious than those of other vineyards, they need time to fully develop the impressive body, delicate fruit and spicy flavours which are characteristic of calcareous marl soils. They age extremely well. Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Tokay Pinot Gris are particularly favourably suited

Main square

by Lalique

This was the Main square (as we named it :))), where we stopped and dropped our car (a part of it can be seen on the pic ;))) in order to be more flexible and free to explore the town.
By the way, on this very square was a nice little shop with local crafts, it was run by a very nice lady, who produced 70% of the goods herself. That day we and another couple were the only visitors before she closed the shop for the night and got a looot of attention from her side. She even showed to us how she painted hand-made pottery. I bought a charming table cloth there, the only one left of such type :)))) Now every time I look at my table, I remember this nice shop in the small French town close to German border.

Wander....

by Lalique

Just have a walk thru this dolly town, small wood decorated houses colored in fresh pastel shades, narrow streets, cosy windows with so dear decorations of birds and flowers, enjoy the tranquility and breathe of history in a small provincial town, where things change soooo slooooowly.....

Cafe

by Lalique

On this pretty little square, which is formed by the intersection of two streets, we found a very cute cafe to have a cup of coffee. What attracted us was a window decorated with numerous different hand-made cakes.... mmmmm..... yummm! :))) So the choice was made! But the girls working there was so nice, that when we were leaving the place, they presented us with a fruit-cake FOR FREE!
After this I will never believe any roumors about French behavior! :))))
