Yes, there is a Bergheim in France . . . Alsace
"Utterly charming small village"
On one of our last days in Alsace we decided to visit the Chocolate Museum in Geispolsheim. It was a really fun experience and of course we bought chocolate. How could we not?! It was an unusually warm day in Spring in Alsace so we decided to take the chocolate back to our hotel so it wouldn't melt. Next, we decided to look for Bergheim because I had read a wonderful description of it on Virtual Tourist.
It did not disappoint. It was one of our favorite villages in Alsace and we saw a lot of villages! It was probably the most unspoiled of the villages we visited and yet there was a lot to see and do. Highly recommended.
"Water is always good on a warm day"
It was unseasonably warm so this little canal looked particularly inviting. We walked all over the tiny village, took lots of photos and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The city gate is most impressive.
"Everywhere you look, it's pretty . . ."
There is wine tasting here as there seems to be nearly everywhere in Alsace. The tasting rooms are usually in lovely historic buildings and it's fun to have an excuse to go in and look around.
There were so many pretty houses, fountains and businesses in Bergheim that it was a pleasure just to walk through the town.
