I want to know how to get from Colmar to Riquewihr...without a car. I have visited Colmar before but had a car and it was very easy. But this time, I will arrive by train and would like to know if there is any way to get to Riquewihr and other small villages by taxi or private driver. I would love to hire someone to drive us around for 1/2 a day but can't find anything on the internet to arrange this. Can anyone suggest a solution?

There is a district which is called Little Venice by many coz the whole center of the town is cut by numerous small shallow channels....
One can hire a small boat with engine looking like an air ventialtor :)))) and have a ride along the channels.
It was a surprise to spot this farmyard through an open gate, standing in the city center, along rue des Marchands. It does not seem to be a farm anymore but, given its condition, it must have been used until not very long ago.
The Unterlinden Museum is the most well-known attraction in Colmar. Housed in a former convent of the Dominicans (a religious order known for its austerity), the Unterlinden Museum contains an impressive collection of medieval religious paintings, many exhibits of local life, as well as many more modern paintings and even Roman artifacts. Its centerpiece is the dramatic 16-century Issenheim Alterpiece by Matthias Gruenewald. Other exhbits include an impressive armor collection. While I was here there were also several amazing engravings by Martin Schongauer.
St. Martin - the main church of Colmar - is another excellent example of Gothic architecture in Alsace. It was built 1235 - 1356. The spire of the southern tower burnt down in 1572 and was reconstructed in Renaissance style, lending the building its characteristic (and non-typical) silhouette.
Please take notice of the many details, like the fine sculptured portals, the windows with Gotic tracery and the side chapel in the Northern nave. I liked it very much.
The house that stands on the left to Maison Adolf (previous tip) is at the corner with rue Mercière (Haberdasher street). On rue Mercière side, the ground level has Romanesque semi-circular arches. The first level is heavily corbelled and it seems that four pillars linked by a second series of semi-circular arches have been added to sustain the corbelling and strengthen it.
