Músee du Unterlinden
by MEdelmann
Start your tour with a visit in the "Unterlinden" Museum. There can be found a lot of interesting exponats, including the "Issenheimer Altar" which is the most famous one.
It shows the life of Alsace people in a very good way and it should not missed on a visit in Colmar.
I will check the adress and tell it to you later.
A picture is worth 1000 words!

The creativity of human beings is amazing. Who would have thought to communicate this message in this way. I don't know what street it was on, but I saw at least one other example. It seemed to help keep the beaten paths relatively clear.
Bartholdi-America's French Artist
by rexvaughan
We visited theBartholdi Museum expecting it to be dedicated to the Statue of Liberty. However, the museum is his home and a lovely place. This photo is of the dining room. Quite a unique use of the china, but a nice effect. Bartholdi did not only the Statue of Liberty but a fountain in Philadelphia for the observance of USA's centennial in 1876. His work can also be seen all around Colmar. Some joke that all his statues have one arm raised, but there are exceptions.
Town Walk - 4 - Dominican Church
by robertbaum
"In 1277, despite the opposition of the canons of Saint Martin, the Dominicans were called to Colmar and began construction of their buildings here. The first stone of the church's chancel was laid in 1283 by King Rudolph of Hapsburg, and the building was completed during the first half of the 14th century. Superb stained glass windows survive from this period. The chancel contains the retable of the virgin of the rose bush, a masterpiece executed in 1473 by Martin Schongauer."
Maison "Des Têtes".
by breughel
Each time I passed in front of the Maison des Têtes (House of the Heads); I wondered what had inspired the merchant Anton Burger in 1609 to build this manor in German Renaissance with its 111 grotesque heads or masks on the frontage!?
The façade is beautiful with its oriel which rises on three stages. The gable is surmounted by a statue, representing a cooper, made in 1902 by the sculptor Bartholdi.
The porch opens on a paved yard. The house, when built, was leaning against the fortifications of the Old Colmar. It has been a "Bourse aux vins" wine exchange office, then a restaurant and a hotel.
