Le Rapp Hotel and Restaurant: In the heart of old Colmar

by rexvaughan

On our first trip to Alsace several years ago, we stayed in this hotel and found it very nice and very convenient. It is in the old center of town, less than a mile from the train station and close to the Unterlinden Museum, the Old Customs House and Petite Venice. Looking at their website, they have done some renovation since we were there and it looks very nice. Prices start at about $100 for a single and about $150 for two.

No specific name: Anne's place in Marckolsheim

by rexvaughan

You know you are probably off the beaten path when you find yourself about 15 miles outside of Colmar in a nameless gite/chambres d’hote in a town of about 4,000 in Alsace. Our hostess is the petite amie of the father of our Alsatian friend back home. Such personal connections has its benefits as, when we went into our apartment, the table held a basket of cookies baked by our hostess and a box of Alsatian chocolates from our friend back home. We had the option of a bed with breakfast accommodation or what I call the apartment and chose the latter. It had two bedrooms, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom. It would easily handle a family of 5 or 6 who wanted a self-catering arrangement.
The building is a charming old, cross-timbered two story house typical of the traditional local architecture. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a homey ambience. Breakfast is included and served in the dining room next door. When we were there, the weather was pretty chilly and the nice cast-iron stove in the dining room was a lovely and welcome touch. Parking for our car was inside the gate beside the house and next to the garden and there were laundry facilities we used. All this for 60€ per night for 2!

Accommodation in Alsace: Websites to find a place to stay

by Kimi_the_Bear

If you want to stay at a "gite" or B&B in the Strasbourg region you can start a search on google with the key words:

chambres d'hotes alsace bas rhin

If you want to stay south of Sélestat (which would include Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Colmar, Eguisheim, etc.) you google for:

chambres d'hotes alsace bas rhin

Here is the accommodation guide of the tourist office of the southern part of Alsace:

If you want a different kind (not B&B) of accommodation just click on the type of accommodation you want under: Hébergement.

Landhotel Bierhäusle: Not really in Alsace, but very close

by christine.j

When I realized that by end of January many hotels in Alsace had already been fully booked for the end of May, I started looking somewhere else. I finally found the Landhotel Bierhäusle in Eschbach, just across the border from Alsace.

We had a double with a tiny bathroom. The mattress was the softest I had ever slept on and strangely enough for such a small village there was a lot of noise at night, cars and trucks on the street and about every half hour a train. We then understood the many posters we had seen all over the place, complaining about the train traffic.

Well, we were happy to have found a hotel and it really wasn't expensive, 45 Euro not including breakfast.
The first morning we had breakfast there, it was 10 Euro each, which was too much for what was offered - just some bread rolls, prepacked cheese and ham and two flavours of jam.

A nice touch: For those who leave early a water kettle and some instant coffee is left on a table, also some fruit and chocolate.

Would I stay there again? Probably and for one reason: The emphasis of the Bierhäusle is on the restaurant attached to it, which is one of the best I have ever eaten in!

Le Domaine de Pairis

by Helga67

This is a charming hotel in a quiet location. It is situatad between the wine valley and the mountains.

The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant serves a wide range of delicious local specialties. Breakfast is served between 8 and 10 am and consists of croissants, buns and baguette, selfmade jam, cheese, meat, cornflakes and yoghurt. This is more than the typical French breakfast.

Rooms are simple but very clean with flatscreen TV.

If you like it relaxing and quiet this is a wonderful hotel. However, if you would like to eat outside the hotel or enjoy some nightlife, you will need to take the car to the next village.

There is a private parking lot behind the hotel. Opposite the hotel is a riding school and a walking path.

They have free WIFI.

Les Trois Chateaux: Affordable in Alsace

by markyg

I list this Inn as it was our savoir, as we could not find another place open in the area in January. While this Inn is on the edge of Ribeauville, within 30 minutes drive one can access most of Alsace, so it is centrally located. There is nothing particularly remarkable about this Inn, but it has everything one could want at a great price. 55 euros for two people including breakfast. The food and drink were good, typical Alsacian food. The family has there own vineyards, though we did not try their wine. The owners were pleasant, thought they only spoke French or German. The Inn is about a 5 minute walk into the center of the town. There is a parking lot across from the hotel as well as a whiskey bar and another restaurant. While other towns had more wineries, this town has a little of everything

Hotel saint-Nicolas: hotel 2stars

by phil1908

situated in the small village of RIQUEWIHR, it's a quite place thanks to the help of the owners, the all family working for the pleasure/satisfaction of their guests. Nice bedrooms (all different ) and menus in a surrounding dated from the 16th century

Hotel chain

by dreamworld

We exclusively used hotels part of the Ibis hotels chain. They are affordable 2-star hotels (range from 45 to 65 Euros per room/night) and usually offers parking, free baby bed, and good comfort, despite rooms are not that that big...ok for 1 to 3 nights I would say.
You can find them : www.ibishotel.com

Camping Municipal "Les Trois Chateaux": Camping in Eguisheim

by tini58de

This was my absolute favourite campground on that tour! The campground is situatuated right next to a vinyard between the village and the three castles. A perfect place to relax and to start excursions from. The storks that are so typical for the region, were stalking around on the grounds and it was a wonderful atmosphere all around!

Camping Municipal de Kaysersberg: Camping in Kaysersberg

by tini58de

Spacious, clean and quiet campground a little outside of Kaysersberg. From this campground we took our bikes and enjoyed a 10 minute bikeride through the forest to reach the village.
