Getting to 100 rue de bale from Mulhouse Central TGV station
by lvpool05
How to get to address 100, Rue de Bale from Central TGV station?
1) Bus - what is the fare and how to buy the ticket? What are the bus numbers and how frequent do the buses run?
2) Taxi - what is the fare for the short trip?
3) Walk - How long to walk?

I calculate the distance as 1500m perhaps 15 - 20 minutes walk.
It would appear that in daytimes the number 11 bus goes from the station along Rue de Bale. After 2000 and on Sundays it's bus 62. But you can see for yourself and get the times at

Taxi for such a short distance? Not me.

Thanks a lot for the prompt answers. As for taxi, I might have to reach the place in a hurry if I change my travel plan. Any idea on the taxi fare for the 1.5 km distance?

Solar vehicles
by globetrott
The Schlumpf Collection does not only include old vintage-cars , but also interesting exhibits of more modern and future times.
On the left of my pic:
Horlacher Blue Arrow - a record vehicle for cars powered by musculars only.
It is just 21 Kg and reached a top-speed of 92 km/h.
That car could be put at the disposal of interested colleges for test drives !! On the right of my picture :
Horlacher Carbon 1988 with an engine of just 430 cm³ and a top-speed of 140 km/h
Both cars are loans by the swiss Company Horlacher
Hotchkiss-Gregoire JAG - 1953
by globetrott
This french car was a special design by Jean-Albert Gregoire and one of the first cars with front wheel drive.
Did you realize already that all the cars of the museum are parked on beautiful small stones and only the paths for the visitors are paved.
This fact adds a lot to the special atmosphere of the museum, togeather with all the beautiful columns and the special lamps...

STEYR 220 Cabriolet -1938
by globetrott
THIS was a great surprise for me, to see a car made in my hometown of Steyr in the Schlumpf-collection in Mulhouse.
What an honor - but on the other hand this car was special in many ways and Fritz Schlumpf did not collect only cars made in Alsace & France, but also unique and special cars from other countries.
This car from Steyr was well known for its ability to drive steep passes in the mountains.
ooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooo
For those, beeing interested in the technical details:
This car had 6 cylindres and 2260ccm
55HP and a top-speed of 120km/h

Delahaye 135M - 1949
by globetrott
This lovely car has an interesting history :
This Delahaye left France in 1951 for a honeymoon-trip to the USA. The lady stayed with the car in the USA and gave this car as a donation to the museum in 1986.
...and she used the ticket for the shipping of the car, that she had bought already in 1951, but did not use, as she had stayed in the USA after the honeymoon.
