Travel Tips for Mulhouse

other works of art as well

by globetrott

You may find a lot of other works of art in the small park in front of the museum - like the one you may see on my picture.

Mostly these works of art are replicas of greek or roman sculptures and look really great.
And a lot of benches are waiting for the visitors. I was in Mulhouse in early april and may imagine that in summer this small park with all the sculptures and lots of leaves on the trees would be a great place to relax...

MENIER Double Phaeton 1893

by globetrott

This early car was not at all easy to drive, as it had 2 engines and 4 gears, all of them had to be operated with different pedals.
It had 4 seats already, but still the wheels of the horse-carriages.

----------------------------------------------------------

The car had 2 engines, each of them with 2 cylindres - top-speed unknown and also not really important for such early cars !

Mercedes Double Phaeton 28/50 - 1905

by globetrott

Did you think this would be a Mecedes ??
This car was quite heavy and it has a funny detail, when you considder today's safty standarts :
The passengers of the back-seat had a seperate hand-break to be used in case of an emergency or simply in order to support the driver in special occasions...

no doors on this car and also the seats are quite unsafe, according to our standarts of today...
------------------- ----------------------- -----------------

Some more technical details about this car :

the engine had 4 cylindres and 7240ccm
50HP and a top-speed of 80km/h

Bugatti 64 Coach of 1939

by globetrott

Ettore Bugatti (*1881-1947) came from Italy and started to construct his cars in Molsheim/Alsace in 1907.
He was also a sucessful driver in car-races and his company also produced engines for airplanes and trains.
The Bugatti Royal had such a giant airplane-engine.
The cars of Ettore Bugatti had always been ahead of time with features other companies copied lateron...

This excellent car was another attempt to survive the bad times of WW II - just have a look for the elegant lines of the car.

some technical details about this great car :
the engine had 8 cylindres and 4432 ccm
185HP and a top-speed of 180 km/h
