Travel Tips for Mulhouse

Arzens "La Baleine" 1938

by globetrott

This car of french production is unique in style and size ( about 7 meters long)
Paul Arzens (1903-1990) was a painter and designer and built this car for himself on the basis of a Buick Standart of 1928.
About 1/3 of the total length was used as a place to store the canvases and painting materials of the artist.

The car has the nickname "The Whale " and I made a combination of different pics - one of them is much smaller, but it shows the great front-part of the car with the hidden lights.

Lorraine-Dietrich Bus EIC - 1907

by globetrott

This small bus was able to transport 9 passengers and was mainly used on the roads of the Vosges.

The passengers had a closed cabin , and were protected against rain and icy winds in winter , but the poor driver had just a windscreen and certainly had to freeze a lot in winter-time.
The luggage of the passengers could be packed on top of the car.

Mercedes-Benz 300SC Coupe of 1956

by globetrott

The Mercedes-Benz 300SC was a development of the 300S with an added injection engine.

960 of this type were produced between 1952 and 1957, it was the time of the so called "Wirtschaftswunder" ( the fast growing economy in Germany after WW II ), and there was a steady demand for cars beeing able to show the new prosperity.
Cars had to be more beautiful and a lot faster than before, and it was necessary to show, what you are able to afford...

Bugatti 57SC "Coupe Atalante" of 1937

by globetrott

The "Coupe Atalante" was a special body for the Bugatti-cars and you could have ordered it for most of the car-types.
The "Coupe Atalante" is a shorter version, with just 2 seats and no back-row - in my opinion an absolutely beautiful way to build a sportscar.

Just click on my picture to see the great car !
