Unique Quality: We have not been to Hôtel de la Cloche. It stands in a half timbered house, on Rue Général Gouraud, near Place du Marché and the Hôtel de Ville. It looks very quiet.
We stayed at a Logis in Barr that I highly recommend. We saw this place on a day trip in the area and are definitely going to stay here some time in the future.
We often use the Logis de France chain of small family-owned hotels and have seldom been disappointed. They are clean, friendly and usually have a good restaurant. The prices run the gamut from cheap to chateau expensive. This one is quite reasonable.
Update: We didn't stay at the La Cloche on our last trip since we stayed in Barr where we usually stay. However, this time we did eat at La Cloche and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
Unique Quality: The location is amazing. You sit on the outside terrace looking directly onto the main market square. You are one block from the lovely church Sts. Peter & Paul. There is shopping all around. If, for some reason, you don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant, there must be a dozen restaurants within a four block area.
We also had lunch one day at a pretzel shop nearby. They make sandwiches out of pretzels. They're called maricettes and come in different sizes. Love it!
Directions: Facing the town hall, the hotel is directly on your left on the corner of the street leading up to the church. In summer, look for the terrace surrounded by red geraniums.
