Hotel les Vosges in Ribeauville: Charming Small Hotels of France . . . Yes!

The hotel had been recommended in "Charming Small Hotel Guides" by Duncan Petersen Publishing. The lady at the desk spoke English reasonably comfortably. Her dog was well behaved (a big plus for us), the lobby was comfortable and friendly, there was an elevator (another big plus for us), our room was large and well furnished with what appeared to be antiques. I shoved the ubiquitous television aside and had a lovely writing desk. The armoire was equipped with clothes hangers. The bathroom was well equipped and spotless. The whole hotel was immaculate.

Unique Quality: We had a balcony equipped with table and chairs looking onto the main street. The only jarring note was a brand new wood floor that was a very light-colored smooth wood. It looked so very new and the rest of the hotel had such delightful antique ambience. I suppose time will take care of it.

I later discovered the proprietor is a quilter. She had many of her quilts on display in the hotel public areas and spent a few cheerful minutes telling me about a nearby quilt conference they have every year
