English?
My fondest memory of Strasbourg was in the Train Station. I asked the woman at the ticket window, in french, if she spoke english. She replied 'a little'. So I asked 'oder Deutsch' Well she comes back with 'No, I speak English'

St Paul's is a splendid neo-Gothic church which was once the protestant church for the city's garrison. It rises majestically above the water which surrounds it on two sides.
Near this church is the Place Sebastien Brandt, and one of our favourite bars, The Cafe Brandt.

I will always say so and never step back: train is the best way to travel (almost) anywhere, and this is true for Strasbourg too. Forget the car in this nice little town, there are already too many of them.
Take the train instead, there is quite a good offer of rather fast and regular trains from Paris or Basel (or Offenburg/Karlsruhe if you come from the eastern side), rather rare for french trains ;-)
The city is small, so you can manage it on foot. If you plan to go a little further or if you like to move like the local folks, rent a bike and the road is yours.
You can find plenty of bikes in the 'Velocation' shops. They are in very good shape (although a little scarce on equipement, ask firmly for a bike with at least three gears) and rather cheap.
As in any french organization, there is quite a lot of paperwork before you can actually ride your bike but simply be patient and wait until they fix this old Xerox machine...
And have a ID card (and 300 FF for the caution) in handy, this will avoid you a lot of trouble.
Classy restaurant in the Petite France old town. Don't order appetizers if you want to give choucroute a try, your stomach might regret it. If you re not especially hungry, don't order one choucroute per person, it's too much already ....
