Transport in Strasbourg

by hibrz

Hi all, I will be in Strasbourg for 5 days and my Q is if there is any kind of pass for the transport? If so, can I use for all kind of bus and train and ... in Strasbourg? Thanks in advance.

Re: Transport in Strasbourg

I've just been onto the CTS site (public transport in Strasbourg -dreadful site) and it appears that there is no PASS as such (just a BADGEO card system used in other French cities, not worth the bother for 5 days), €11.50 for 10 tickets and €32 for 30 tickets, quite good value. The tram looks the business.
They have CTS boutiques dotted around the city, they'll be able to help you out

Half Timbered Wonderland

by steventilly

Look at the beautifulold, half-timbered buildings of the Petite France area. One of the most famous is the Tanners House, shown in this picture. Many of the buildings in this area were used by tanners, the many openings in the rooves being to allow the air to circulate to dry the pelts.

If you have already bought some figures for the crib, you might want to make around them an Alsatian village. In this booth, you will find every kind of typical Alsatian houses, all hand made, hand painted. Each of them is a unique piece!

The Alsace

by Leipzig

Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. If you have some time catch a bike or a car and get out of the town. The Alsace region attracts with half-timbered houses, white wine and breathtaking landscape.
Several civilizations left a footprint in the Alsace region. After the Celts came the Romans, the Alemanni and the Franks. The history of this region is as interesting as almost no other. After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 the Alsace was annexed by Germany and the government tried to "Germanize" it. In the "Treaty of Versailles" of 1919 France got the Alsace back. Still today you see this region as gateway between France and German culture.

Alsatian Tarte Flambee

by knerten about Cafe Rohan...or any other

When in Strasbourg, you MUST try the Alsatian speciality Tarte Flambe or Flammkuchen as it is known. It's a kind of flat tortilla or pizza with various toppings. The traditional Alsatian one has bacon, onions and melted cheese.
