The forest comes up to side from the beaches, what is good, to make of catnaps, so that the children have fun, or for the picnic. Attention, fires are forbidden, the forest of pines of Les Landes is very fragile !

Paragliding
The Dune du Pilat seems to be paraglider's paradise. You can see hundreds of them practising their sport along the dune.
Of course their a couple of school (usually situated at the campsites) where you can take classes or just try a tandem flight (?).
But just watching was also good fun!
Arcachon and the Dune de Pyla
"15 Miles to Arcachon"
When I set out on this First trip of 2005 from Paris to Bordeaux, it was with a view to climb the Dune de Pyla. It is instructive to note that Arcachon is about 57 miles from Bordeaux. So it was wise to base in Bordeaux the first night and just did a leisure drive to Arcachon the following day.
"First sight of Dune de Pyla!"
As I approached the bend, I saw a spetacle, like the end of the road. Instintively, I packed my car, and took this shot. This was the first impression of the Dune de Pyla:
117 meters high, and 9kilometers in lenght. It lies south of Arcachon.
