Hi there, thinking of travelling this june to biarttz via bilbao airport ,has anybody travelled this way and whats the roads like and is the airport easy to get out off,how long would the journey take, thanks ciaran.
All easy. Have travelled this route in a hire car and for some reason was stopped at the French border. Maybe the guy was bored. I am sure that I didn't look suspicious ! Normally just drive through. I would look at a journey planner for more details - it's all fast but roads going round the hilly region with tolls. About €12 in all at 3 stops. Takes around 2 hours.

Biarritz is from all over the world one of the " paradises of the surfers ". Every year, some competitions allow the best world specialists to tackle to the waves of the coast Basque.
To the Midded Aged, Biarritz is a small harbor whose fishers are famous for their cleverness to harpoon the whales. The oil of the animal is then very sought-after to illuminate the houses. One also uses the bones and the coasts to manufacture some fences; skin, cut in thongs, to prepare the seats or helmets. Of course, one also eats the flesh, in particular the language, dish of choice for visitors of mark.
The site of the village is adapted particularly well to the fishing to the whale. The shackle where is today the Old Harbor is safe from the surge of the large. A pass guarantees the access of the crafts at the bay. The beach in soft slope permits to fail the cetaceans to high tide, then to wait for the low tide to cut up them.
The villagers work on the beach, where they installed some ovens to melt the bacon, of the chimneys to cook and to smoke meat, of the amphoras to preserve oil.
The whales have the fishers lived until toward the half of the XVIIth century. Then they move away more and more toward the large and the fishers should go until toward New Earth to find them.
