TGV train

by manuna

We'll take an early TGV train Strasbourg - Bordeaux. Does it have any buffet on board to have breakfast?

Re: TGV train

If you want to eat on the train, bring your food with you. It is much better and this will certainly be better. Hot drinks, you can take the train (in general, I think this is the car 4).
Have a nice trip

Travel Tips for Bordeaux

Les armoiries de Bordeaux

by Klod5

LILIA SOLA REGVNT LVNAM, VNDAS, CASTRA, LEONEM
Les lis seuls règnent sur la lune, les flots, le château et le lion. Of muzzles, to the Thick open, perforated Bell and built of sand and added of a gold leopard; to the sea of azure loaded of a money crescent; to the old France chief.
In the former armoiries of the City of Bordeaux the Flowers of lily represent the weapons of the kings of France; the leopard recalls the weapons of the province of Guienne of which Bordeaux was the capital; the Castle reproduces the towers of the former city hall of which it remained today the Thick Bell; the Crescent represents the curve described by the Garonne before the city; the waters of the stream bathe the towers of the city hall.

For crown, Bordeaux will have a wall crown to seven gaps (first-class city) of gold. As supports: two white antelopes collarred of one gold crown fleurdelisée and linked of the same.
And its motto will remain :

LILIA SOLA REGVNT LVNAM, VNDAS, CASTRATES, LEONEM
The only lilies reign on the moon, the streams, the castle and the lion.

Place du Parlement

by mallyak

The Square was built in 1754 and augments the landscape of luxurious commerce buildings, offset by a delightful fountain. By 1776 there was an addition of a royal market, later renamed The Liberty Market in honor of the French Revolution.

Cathedral St.-Andre: An Infestation of Gargoyles

by hquittner

Typical of the Rayonnant Gothic period, the chevet of the Cathedral is covered with gargoyles. They are to covey rain water from the roof but it looks like they were overproduced here and have as usual entertaining "faces" and in this case even bodies. A pair of binoculars is a handy tool for their study.

PLACE DES QUINCONCES

by lorgnierl

this vast esplanade spreads out over 12 hectares
lost among the trees, two marbles giants face each other; Montesquieu and Montaigne
at one end of the place , the allegorical "Monument to the Girondiins" is ddeicated to the government deputies of the gironde region, leading federalist agitators during the french revolution who all lost their heads
the 50m high columns depicts "liberty breaking free from the chains of oppresion" at the base of hte statue, impressive bronze fountains symbolise the triumph of the republic and the concorde
