First: the former German capital is called BONN.
Second, for train connection, you may check the sites
www.cff.ch (the Swiss railway site)
or
www.diebahn.de (German railways)
You sohould be getting a large array of connections.

Alternatively, you ^could fly from Toulouse to Köln/Bonn airport (Cologne). Lufthnasa often has special rates for advance-booking returns. You may also check Germanwings or Hapag-Lloyd Express.for possibilities from France to Cologne.

Travel Tips for Bordeaux

Where comfy shoes to explore this wonderful city

by Gypsystravels

I would recommend highly that while you are visiting Bordeaux to wear comfortable shoes. It's an easy navigable city and most of the sights you will want to see are within short distances from eachother. Wearing comfortable shoes is a must since some of the streets are cracked or uneven. Even if you wear comfortable shoes beware, as you can take a fall and get hurt.

I know this first hand, while walking to St. Bruno there was a crack in one of the streets and I took a tumble and hurt my knee very badly (I admit I am always on the ground, lol). We spent the better of an hour looking for a pharmacy for some first aid. Not my fondest, but I guess I will remember the tumble I took while walking to St. Bruno. My comment to my fellow travelers is that I need to "Christian" the streets of any city with my knees...lol

PRIVATE CAR

by Toyin

This picture was taken on my way back from Bordeaux, via St Emilion. I always enjoy traveling by road, as it affords me the opportunity of seeing other towns and cities. It also give the feeling of knowing the geography of the terrane very well.

Notre Dame

by bugulma

The Notre Dame was recommended to visit by Lionel. I sought it a long time in spite of I saw it on my map. As a matter of fact sometimes the streets in the old town are narrow and sometimes they lead to the blind alley (in any way, I chose often such ways while I was seeking the church). The church was situated on Place du Chapelet, near of Marche des Grandes Hommes.

The Burgundy Gate

by ceswho

The Burgundy Gate dedicated to the Dauphin's son, the Duke of Burgundy, was the "apple of the Intendant Tourney's eye." completed in 1755. The Burgundy Gate replaced the former Salineres Gate in the 14th century. The triumphal arch built by Portier was placed on a site overlooking the river at the end of the former moats leading to the Town Hall, then situated on what we now know s Cours Victor0Hugo. Later, when the first bridge in Bordeaux was built, just in front of the gateway flanked by the line of buildings along the waterfront, it became the most majestic gesture of welcome to visitors from the north.

Bordeaux...a city to fall slowly in love with.

"Small and charming, beautiful and captivating."

Bordeaux is a charming river town in the famous wine region of the same name. My boyfriend Rob is working here for two months, so I will be visiting periodically over the next few weeks. My first trip here was a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and I wanted to see as much of the town and surrounding areas as possible. You will need a car to explore the wine region with any degree of freedom, although there are organised coach tours. Within the town you can take buses or trams with ease, and the centre is flat and easily navigated on foot. In addition you can hire a bike, roller blades or even a skateboard at Les Quais along the river, so there are plenty of ways to get around. Bikes seem to feel they have priority over pedestrians, even when they are riding on the pavement, so keep an eye out for them. On only my second visit I am already wishing that I could have stayed longer.
