Gay B&B in Bordeaux and Arcachon

by buk64

Hi, we are travelling to SW France in August 2005 and are looking for gay B&B/chambre hotes in or near Arcachon (13/8/05, 14/8/05, 15/8/05) and in Bordeaux (16/8/05, 17/8/05). Hope someone can help. Many thanks, buk64.

Sorry I'm a bit late with this response, as I guess you will have set off already, but if there are any other gay travellers heading out to Bordeaux I would strongly recommend travelling with 'Gourmet Touring' (www.gourmet-touring.com). I used them at the end of last year for a holiday centred aroudn food, wine and open-topped cars to the region and they were amazing. Their holidays are not cheap but worth every dime if you are short of time and want the best advise going from people who know and love the area and take time to understand your personal needs and make your holiday special.

The TGV, the French Intercity...

by montxito

The TGV, the French Intercity Train, is a good way of getting about France. If you book at least thirty days in advance you can buy a Joker 30 ticket which is far cheaper than the normal price. There is also a Joker 8 ticket if you book eight or more days in advance. If you can't book in advance to somewhere like Paris you may well be better off getting a cheap internal flight. You can also get a Carissimo pass which for 195F gives a 50% discount on four (single) journeys.

Grand Theatre

by arv1

Though I didn't go inside Grand Theatre, I was very impressed with the little I saw. This is a huuuuuge building that is brilliant from whatever side you see it from! Looking at the intricate detail on each statue at the front of the building, you will truly be astounded by the amount of effort put into the construction of the building! The steps outside the entrance of the building are really inviting...so go and sit down when you visit it!

Place de la Victoire

by black_mimi99

During the 13th and 14th century the city underwent an expansion period. The wine exports made of this one of the richest cities in France. Four centuries later Bordeaux became the first port in France, thanks to the trade with the colonies. In the 19th century the city was completely renewed with the construction of new bridges, train lines, sewage and gas networks. During the last century the city of Bordeaux grew with the construction of new districts. In the 21st century one of the city's main exportation is still the fruit of the poor lands that surround the city: the Bordeaux wine.

Bordeaux and the Surronding Wine Region

"Bordeaux, France"

So we finally arrived in Bordeaux after spending a whole day in Paris' metro system. Damn transportation strike....is that all they do?! Go on strike?? we got nothing accomplished on a day when we had so much planned, becuase we basically spent it on 50 different trains trying to get somewhere...anywhere! And thats how we ended up in Bordeaux later that night.
