World Wine Headquaters
by Toyin
If you have never being to Bordeaux before, I will advice you visit St Emilion if you really love French wines. You have the opportunity of tasting any type of wine for one Euros, or for free in some cases if you end up buying the particular wine. Just Wine everywhere.
A paradise for VINES
by Toyin
As you drive through Bordeaux, vine yards are scattered everywhere. This area has an outstanding microclimate and unique soils. Though the soil is composed of stones, sand, gravel, clay, silt.
In St Emilion alone, the average anual production exceeds 250,000 hectolitres.
It's got to be wine-tasting....
by David_Browne
It's got to be wine-tasting. The Tourist Office has a regular afternoon session with a talk, sampling of aroma samples and - of course - a tasting of several fine Bordeaux wines with cheese in a nearby resaurant.
Palace of Justice/Palais du Justice
by Gypsystravels
We were walking around trying to get our bearings when we approached this huge open area, almost like a square or plaza. Located here is this building, somehwhat grand and impressive with its white wash finish. Neither of us had any idea what this building was but we did spot a few statues of what looks like judges guarding each side of the building. I later learned that this buiding is the Palace of Justice.
Located in the same "square" is the Hospital.
Relax in the Place du Parlement
by hquittner
The Place du Parlement is a large square for walking and relaxing. In season the half-dozen restaurants have outdoor tables for dining. They range from simple and inexpensive to the finest seafood restaurant in town (See our Cez Philippe Restaurant Tip). At the center of the square is a fine fountain. Enclosing the nicely paved square are fine buildings in Louis XV style (mid 18C). Some have arcades at the ground floor and decorations on the upper rims of the main floor windows, called mascarones, fancifully decorated heads which grin down at the observer.
