Hi !
I live in Bordeaux near the train station and I can show you a place to eat and to buy a red wine bottle !! Just say me when it is exaclty and I will check if I will be there at this moment !
As I'm at the moment in Galway, Ireland for a clinical attachment it will be great to find somebody to speak english !

Take care

Clément

Travel Tips for Bordeaux

Finding your way around Bordeaux

by Gypsystravels

You really won't get lost in Bordeaux if you have a sense of direction and good map, but even thought we were prepared, somehow we just couldn't find St. Andre (it was literally a few minutes walk from where we were).

We had to stop and take a better look at where we were and where we were going...we eventually found our way with a little help from a friendly local. Exploring Bordeaux with some really great people

By plane to Bordeaux

by MEdelmann

Some major airlines also serve Bordeaux regulary, for example Lufthansa (from Munich) or MALEV (from Budapest). Please check to shedules of the airlines.

Instead of going directly to Bordeaux you can also take a plane to Paris. There is a regulary high-speed trainservice (TGV - train a grand vitesse) linking Paris and Bordeaux. Look at the SNCF-Website for more infos.

Monument Aux Girondins

by Sambawalk

At the foot of the Monument to the Girondins are two beautiful fountains. Next to the column there are a couple of statues that honor two of the greatest names of Bordeaux. One is dedicated to the philosopher and former Mayor of Bordeaux Michel de Montaigne. The other one is dedicated to Charles Louis de Montesquieu, one of the architects of the "century of the lights". He was not only an intellectual, but also a winegrower.

Grand theatre

It's a nice building to see from the outside but the inside is stunning. And fortunately you can make pictures as long as you don't get any further then the small steps that lead up to the main staircase...

The gards were looking and laughing a bit when i started to make pictures but who cares.. i have them..

the wine country/town

"nice centre of town"

the most exciting part of the trip for our 3 year old was the train, tram or whatever people want to call it. It is a bit pricy and difficult to understand how to purchase the ticket at the stations.

French people ... some do not make and effort to help when they see people in need. I was trying to cross the railroad with the stroller and it was difficult, no cars stoped for us to cross.

We followed some locals sugestions and ate at a restaurant similar to a cave. Food was not goo and the dinner was expensive, after the dinner we found out that the tram stoped at 11 pm and we had to go back to the car walking 3 km.
