Pont de Pierre. Pierre Bridge
by bugulma
I have mentioned the bridge already in previous tips and it’s time to tell about. The bridge joined two sides of the city in 1822. The view of the bridge is nice near of Porte Cailhu, you need just cross the street and go to the river. The view is more wonderful in nights.

YOu will have no problems finding a restaurant in Bordeaux, there are plenty for everybody's taste and pocket. Usually at night you will find young people passing out flyers with the restaurant's special.
La cathedrale Saint-Andre
by smschley
This cathedral has quite some history attached to it. In 1137, the future King Louis VII - he who kicked off Bordeaux' worldwide reputation for wine - married Eleanor of Aquitaine here. The exterior wall of the nave dates right back to 1096; most of the rest of the structure was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. The interior, reached via the newly cleaned north portal, is much more attractive than the stained, crumbling exterior. You can visit the cathedral daily. Behind the choir, the 50m (164ft) belfry, the 15th-century Tour Pey-Berland, can be climbed (for a fee). The cathedral and belfry are easy to find, across from the city hall.
Quartier Jardin Public

It was built in 1756, this beautifully landscaped park runs along the cours de Verdun, just north of the city centre, offering a relaxing oasis of calm in the middle of the city. Laid out in an English style, this park was first established in 1755 and remains a focal point of the city’s social life.
I love to hang around here, cos so nice to see the river, swans, ducks, ppl around, the school kids, students, and family....

"Bordeaux - City of Calm and Relaxation"
Bordeaux was my travel alone and I really had a great time over there ...... I went there in the summer of 98 and football worldcup was taking place at that time there in France ...... so it was an awesome environment.
I dont remember exactly the dates but there was a very good exhibition which took place in teh exhibition hall and there were representatives from several different countries with their products. There I had my first ride in the roller coaster !!
I stayed in Citadines Hotel, behind Archachon - Meriadeck which is close to Place La Gambetta.
The place is very quite, specially when you are used to the environment of a big cosmpoliton city but people are really friendly and helpful.
Walking street (I forgot the name) was really good for shopping as you can see the shops from all the big brands and also you can see all the young and old on the streets roaming around mingling together and have a nice time.
There were so many concerts, festivals and things happening in those days because of the world cup and also as you all know Bordeaux is famous for its wine, A wine festival takes place in Bordeaux in the month of June.
I will cherish the memories of these four months for my whole life as it was a wonderful experience.
