Hostellerie L'Ambrosie: More Good Value Accommodation in Bourdeilles
The Ambrosie is the smallest "hotel" in Bourdeilles, having just five rooms to let - four standard rooms and a "suite" for up to four people. These have all been refurbished to a high standard, and offer easy access to the village attractions nearby. The traditional style of the refurbishment means that, like the nearby Donjon hotel and restaurant, there are few of the corporate hotel "luxuries" such as a mini-bar or endless TV channels, but this is in keeping with the pace of life in this region. The couple who run it (Corinne and Jean-Claude Joch) have a somewhat more "hands on" approach than the other hoteliers in the village, but, far from being a problem, this adds to the warmth of their hospitality. Their take on breakfast tea is distinctively continental, meaning that it may not quite be hot enough the first time. In sunny weather, breakfast is served in a charming courtyard garden that is a very good place to start the day. Communal meals are available in the evening on request, with a variety of traditional recipes to choose from.

Hostellerie Le Donjon: Good Value Accommodation in Bourdeilles
The "Donjon" is a good place for visitors to stay while exploring the village and surrounding areas. Situated in the heart of the village, it offers very easy access to the main attractions, and, because it is in one of the historic buildings, could be considered to be one of the attractions in itself. The Donjon offers hospitality in a very traditional regional style, so although it has been maintained to a high standard, the "luxuries" offered by corporate hotel chains (unlimited channels on the TV, mini-bars etc) are not as yet available. Comfortable and affordable, prices start from 50/60€ for a night's accommodation in one of the seven rooms. The restaurant on the ground floor is also highly recommended, offering a selected variety of dishes with a slight Parisian twist. Expect to pay between 30€ and 45€ per head, depending on drinks and other options. Pets are welcome.
Unique Quality: The best qualities of this establishment are the historic setting, its relative affordability, its central location and the warmth of the welcome you receive from the hotel's owner (and head chef), Etienne Thouvenin.
