A central place to stay
As none of us had visited the Périgord before, we didn't really know which place to choose as our basis. Brantôme looked nice on VT, and so did the Hostellerie du Périgord Vert, so we booked a room there. It is a nice place, but definitely nothing special. The rooms are basic, but clean. All (?) of them open up to the somewhat bizarre front garden which is nothing more than an artificial stream surrounded by a few shrubs and a lot of gravel. Nonetheless, the first thing you see in the morning is the sunrise with some green bits in front of it. Breakfast is not included in the price (which we only found out on arrival) and nothing special either. We liked it, but it tends to become boring as they do not change anything. You'll get the same slices of bread, croissants and jam every day. Charging 8 euros per person for something like that is definitely overpriced. The staff is friendly and attentive and tries their best to make guests feel at home. All in all, our time in Hostellerie du Périgord Vert was alright, but there must be better places around.
Unique Quality: None - if you do not count the overpriced breakfast. In general, we had the feeling that this place is not exactly good value for money.
