Le Prieure, Cadouin, Perigord Noir: Le Prieure - a real find, just marvellous
by andrewwhite
Though I have not travelled extensively in the Dordogne, I would be surprised to find another Chambre d'Hote in the region which could surpass Le Prieure in comfort, style and friendliness.
Anne & Derek Primm opened this ancient priory in 2003, following major renovation. They have an obvious commitment to looking after their guest's well-being and comfort and are attentive, friendly and charming.
The dining room, lounge, landings and bedrooms are immaculately furnished and decorated, bright, airy and stylish.
Le Prieure's is located in Cadouin which makes it an ideal base to explore the area around the River Dordogne, Bergerac and the Bastide towns which surround it. The village itself has an excellent restaurant, 2 bars, a nice little curiousity shop and other little shops selling the necessities.
Additionally, L'Abbeye Cadouin is directly opposite Le Prieure and is well worth a visit to see the wonderful cloisters, sculptures and stained glass.
Ideal location, charming hosts, sumptuous accommodation, excellent breakfasts and two pretty cats (one more civilised and friendly than the other)
