Stay at a Chateau
Le Chateau Des Reynats is located in the village of Chancelade. The chateau looks like a fairytale castle. The lobby is rather dark and the stairway is somewhat awkward to navigate around to get to the lounge area and the dining room. The dining room is truly magnificent.
There are grand chandeliers with big round tables nicely covered with linen tablecloths.
There are only 16 rooms in the chateau itself so other accomodations are offered in the annex. Guess where we stayed? Our room in the annex was OK. The room had rose colored walls with toile drapes and bedspread. Our bed was a double, so not a lot of room.
The soap was a tiny offering, and the towels were very thin and worn. Everything was clean and the hallway was very intersting. The walls in the hall were covered with photos of events that happened long ago in this area of France. A nice touch. I thought the dining room was very elegant and befitting a chateau. The food that was served was excellent. The trees outside the chateau and the annex were huge chestnut trees, and made for a nice promenade. The pool was also very nice behind the chateau.
It was too cold for a swim when we were there. The dining room opened to the terrace that was by the pool. It was a nice arrangement and is probably quite lovely during a warmer time.
