Interplages is not located directly in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, but rather halfway between this town and Biarritz in the village of Acotz. There are a few other campgrounds as well, but I suppose none of them is as nice as Interplages. First of all, the location is unique: On top of a cliff between two beaches ("plage" in French), both of which have fine sand and great waves. From the campground, you can reach one of the beaches via a narrow path through a dense bamboo thicket. When you come in the evening or early in the morning you will have the beach almost for yourself, but during the day it gets quite popular. Second, the site is beautifully designed: most of the pitches are separated from their neighbours by a hedge which gives a feeling of privacy but also adds some green to all the tents and campers. Third, there is a swimming-pool. Fourth, the campground team is friendly and helpful and fluent not only in French but also in English. The website is in French, English, Dutch and German. The only drawback of Interplages is the rather early closing time of the showers (10.30pm), meaning that you can't use the sinks either.
The most unique quality is the location.
This family-run hotel is situated on a hilltop south of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The rooms are pleasant and quiet.
