    Reasonable priced accommodation

The Hotel Altica was located on our way into Sarlat-La-Caneda. It looked ok from the outside, and was just 1.5kms from Sarlat centre, something we liked, so we decided to stay here. We had our own Car, and the car park was free for guest's.

The Hotel is 2*, so was a good price, and for the price, we were very happy. It had the usual amenities, plus alarm clock, fan, room heating, our own shower/toilet including blow drier, TV with satellite channels, and FREE WiFi connection. Windows were double glazed, so we had a very quiet night. The room was not big, as in many of the French Hotel's, no worry, we just needed somewhere to sleep that was clean and quiet, and this met our expectation's!

Bicycle rental is available for guest's.

Sorry, I forgot to take a photo, but you can see some on the website.

Travel Tips for Sarlat-la-Canéda

An Umbrella

When we arrived in Sarlat the weather was perfect. ( You can see from my photos) In less than fifteen minutes The sky turned dark grey and their was rain and hail. I think it's a typical weather in there cause as soon as a the sky was turning grey all the cafe's and restaurants moved all their tables and chairs inside.

Place de la Liberte

by Canadienne

This is the main square of Sarlat and it's bordered by 16th through 18th century houses (many now serving as shops and cafes). The square is also the location of the Wednesday and Saturday market.

The main building in this photo is the Hotel de Gisson ~ it serves as the backdrop for the annual Sarlat Festival of Theatre.

It's a fantastic place to sit for lunch, coffee, a glass of wine. . .and to just relax and do some people-watching.

Sarlat - Périgord Noir Region

Sarlat was built by the 7th century in the heart of Dordogne. Among the attractions this Medieval town has to offer, one can see St Sacerdos Cathedral built in the 11th century, St Mary's church which was later converted to a market, the Jardin des Enfeus and St Bernards's tower.
