Feeling at home in Sarlat

This hotel offers both rooms and apartments. We stayed in the apartment Montaigne which included two bedroom, one bath and a WC (toilet in a closet), a kitchen with a dining and living area, and a fabulous balcony complete with patio furniture and a BBQ. The full bath is accessed through the bedroom in the back of the apartment, The WC is just off the kitchen/dining/living area. The front bedroom has a door directly out to the balcony. This apartment has its own entrance but is a very short walk away from the hotel lobby where there was reasonably priced internet access and free use of the wash machines and dryers. The rooms were all clean and the kitchen had all the pot, pans and dishes we needed. The car park was just a short walk away.. If I had a complaint it would be that, like most European hotels I've stayed in , the beds were a bit too hard for me.

Unique Quality: The hotel is located above one of the main streets in the medieval part of the city giving you a great view of historic buildings and current everyday life. On market day we awoke to find the streets filled with tents and tables full of merchandise and we didn't even hear them setting up right below us - must be those thick stone walls. We quickly got to know the staff at the wine shop across the street and they would even wave to us when we were on the balcony. David, whom we corresponded with in making the reservations and who was at the hotel during our stay, was wonderful. He made reservations for us at Grotte de Font de Gaume prior to our arrival, stayed up until midnight to let us in when we were delayed the first night and he speaks fantastic English.
