Sunbath
The town of Arromanches is also a place in which you can relax yourself. The beach is nice but not very great. It is not rare to see people that having sunbath or swimming among the rests of the harbour.

We only had lunch here - a good value - Menu du Jour and were impressed by the surroundings; clean and well kept with interesting decor. At first I thought there was something Rabelaisian about some of the wall decorations - or they might have been characters from the 1940s.
We got into conversation with an American couple who had been staying at the hotel for several days. In other places on this trip we had had a couple of poor reports from Americans about their accommodation .
So it was heartening that they gave a big thumbs up for this simple hotel and the friendliness of the staff.
I have found that particularly since the 1994 50th anniversary of the Liberation, natives of any of the wartime Allies countries seem to get a specially warm welcome from hoteliers and shopkeepers.
Unique Quality: A good simple Hotel in a very good location for the Beaches.

Constructed in the UK and then (slowly) towed across the channel to help with the unloading of Allied troops and equipment during Operation Overlord.
The remains are visible across the beach at Arromanches with some of the parts of the harbour close enough to be walked to at low tide. Even in their decaying state, the parts of the harbour are still quite impressive. See photo for idea of size/scale.
To see the D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, one needs about three days visit to Arromanches. I drove all the way from Paris during the easter period first Rennes, where I based and then to the town and beaches that have history of the D-Day.
This is the muse du embarquement in Arromanches, for students of history, all you need to know about the Normandy landing is here.
Far in the sea in this picture is actually the reminants of the pre fabricated harbours. Pending the restauration of the ports in the area of the landing notably Cherbourg, Le Havre, and Rouen...the creation of artificial roads, and the placement of prefabricated quays and harbours was undertaken the day following the D-Day.
