    Old townhouse

    by

I would recommend this 3 star hotel to anyone staying in Bayeux. It is an old townhouse which has been converted into a small hotel.
The rooms have a lot of character and are clean. There was even a dressing room in mine!
Lovely breakfast in two rooms overlooking a garden. Good location as it is a bout 10 minutes walk to the main attractions like the Museum of tapestry or the cathedral.

Unique Quality: Excellent welcome when I arrived. There is also plenty of parking space at the back of the hotel which is handy as a lot of parking spaces in Bayeux are not free!

    Stayed Here Twice

    by

The Argouges is conveniently sited in Bayeux and there is nearby public parking. We have stayed there for 2 night stays on two separate trips (one with an child in an extra cot). Their rooms are of good size and quiet with comfortable amenities. The staff are attentive. They only serve breakfast but there are many restaurants within a short distance. If you are there of a Saturday morning, you will be able to oarticioate in the weekly market right out front (picture on r. St-Patrice) and get supplies for a picnic lunch or even souvenirs.

    Unique Quality: Well located

A Nice 2* in Bayeux

by saabfan about Hotel D' Argouges

A lovely little 2-star hotel. The staff was exceedingly helpful. Nicely located (may be too far from the train station for those not driving).

Loved the place

by TripAdvisor Member jet029

This little down located in Normandie/Calvados area, is perfect for visiting the D-Day beaches (very popular) and Mont Saint-Michel. After reading all the reviews of other travellers, last month we stayed at the Hotel d’Argouges (two stars), a beautiful hotel facing the pretty Place St-Patrice.

The room (number 22) located in the front annex of the hotel was spacious with a well-appointed bathroom. Parking is on site and a bargain by European standards at only 2€ per day. Although there is no restaurant located in the hotel, breakfast is available served in a room that is reminiscent of turn of the century France. Overall, a very visually pleasing experience. For food try Taverne des Ducs, 41-43 place Saint-Patrice

Great little hotel!

I stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel d'Argouges in early April and I could not have made any better choice. It is very conveniently and pleasantly located close to all amenities and attractions yet away from the fray with a delightful courtyard and garden setting. The staff is very friendly and accommodating; there was no problem requesting earlier breakfast service necessary to meet the departure time of the D-Day tours. Thanks to Trip Advisor for the recommendation - this hotel deservedly enjoys #2 position on its popularity index of Bayeux hotels.

Fleas in Pillows in Suite

by TripAdvisor Member FootlooseCologne

We stayed here for a night last month. Really nothing special. We stayed in the family suite, which has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. In the masterbedroom of the suite we used the extra blankets and pillows provided in the closets. The next morning my wife woke up with bites all over the inside of her arms. Not sure if this hotel allows dogs, as many French hotels do, but there's a definite problem with fleas in the pillows in the family suite.

Also, we informed the hotel that we would arrive at 9 in the evening, and they then sent us a snippy e-mail saying that we needed to arrive at the hotel by 6 p.m. at the latest. When we finally did arrive around 10:30 p.m., there were 2 people in reception, one watching tv, and we could not understand what all the pressure about arriving before 6 p.m. was about. Somewhat strange.

Breakfast was nothing special. I agree with the person who says the hotel is nothing special. If price is all you care about, then stay here, but there are far better places nearby (e.g., the Hotel de Sully, which is outstanding).

Excellent Hotel

I have stayed with my family in the large family suite which was huge and charming. Everything was clean and we did not see any fleas but it is possible someone brought them in a baggage (as you can get a lot of things in a train or a plane).
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The garden is well flowered and the house from the 18th century is beautiful.
We would love to go back there again.

Lovely accomodations with superior service

by TripAdvisor Member 2wander4ever

Lovely accomodations with superior service. Our room in the main building was good, a bit dark but newly renovated bathroom made for our first few nights in France quite comfortable. It was a very quiet room in the rear of the building with a gorgeous view of the garden. Cindy was one of the most helpful staff we experienced in all of France. Restaurant recommendation Le Bistrot de Paris was just ok. Skip the breakfast and head out to a neighboring cafe.
