In all fairness, the location is picturesque (although very inconvenient relative to bayeux- either rent a car or pay for a taxi to get anywhere). The food tastes great (although you should expect to pay more for it at the chateau than elsewhere). Our room had a wet floor and a smell like mold from what seemed to us to be water damage. These things happen but the staff didn't deal with the situation professionally. The manager couldn't get his story straight and seemed to have known about the problem before we arrived. It seemed he was trying to buy time until we checked out- no accomodation was initlially offered and we were ultimately told "this is not a big inconvenience". We checked out and went to Novotel- which, although there were no fields in the background, DID have dry carpets, no smell, and access to town. I would have expected to get better customer service and consideration from Le Chateau given the price of the rooms, but that just plainly wasn't the case.

A fine example of military defense architecture, CHATEAU DE SULLY-SUR-LOIRE (14th - 16th c.) was built by Maximilien de Bethune, Duke of Sully. Its location, at the crossing of ancient roads, gave Sully great historical significance.
The chateau is entirely surrounded by water and is quite impressive.
