La Glycine: A good Location
We chose this hotel for the first time many years ago after finding that staying at hotels near the quay at Ouistreham could mean a very disturbed sleep as heavy lorries clanged past to and from the ovenight ferries.
La Glycine is an attractive building covered in spring by the wisteria from which it takes its name.
It is in an excellent location for a late evening arrival or an early departure from the Ouistrham ferry and is also within walking distance of Pegasus Bridge.
Our first visit was during the 50th anniversary commemoration of D-Day when we walked to the bridge for the Son et Lumiere performance that recreated the night of Jun5/6th 1944.
Since then we have stayed there 3 or 4 more times and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is very good too. The hotel offers all the services and comfort expected from a 2*,2 Chimney Logis de France and the Restaurant has a 3 Cocotte grading in the Logis system.
Rooms range from 55 - 85 Euros and menus from 20 -58 euros (as at 2009).
It is not far from the main road into Ouistreham but we have not been disturbed by traffic.
