Well away from the quayside, near city hall (l o n g walk with luggage from the ferry terminal). Convenient for shopping and restaurants, but not well situated if you're travelling by train or ferry.
The local number to ring is 02 33 53 10 30. The matron speaks English.
In Sept 2001 we paid too much (235F/23.50GBP) for room with double bed, TV and sit-down 'shower.' You pay an extra 27F for breakfast (nothing special, just bread, jam and coffee).
This was a two star hotel, but it was a bit tatty, with peeling wallpaper. Shower was a sit-down affair (a tiny tub and a spray nozzle). The room was stuffy and we had to open the window, but the street noise was terrible (mopeds zipping by and lorries rumbling along at all hours) Bed had sagging mattress and a rock-hard polster pillow.

In france you pay per room not per person. the room had a tv and was spotlesly clean. my room had a bog and a large shower and wash basin wardrobes and chests. the hotel is on a quiet street.
The owner had the biggest moustach i have seen for years and had us laughing every time we saw him. when we where booking out he said 'english, you should go back upstairs and brush your teeth. you have breath like donkeys fart.' we where laughing all the way to the train station.
