We stayed here the week after Easter - my husband and I, plus 3 teenage children. Penny could not have been friendlier and more helpful - charming lady. Beautifully decorated and maintained property, extremely comfortable. Only fault was no wastepaper basket in the room!!
Could not be better sighted for the lovely city & waterfront of Honfleur.
Penny & Thierry are very welcoming hosts, their rooms have been tastefully renovated and combined with an excellent breakfast there cannot really be a better place to stay.
We agree with all the positive comments on La Petite Folie -- wonderful bed and breakfast, very warm service. Couldn't have been a better experience. I would definitely recommend staying there.
We spent our first night in France here recently, and found a warm welcome from our hosts and beautiful accommodation the perfect start to our weekend romantic break. Would reccommend staying here if you are visiting Honfleur to all romantics out there...
La Petite Folie is enchanting. Fronting on to a narrow lane in the heart of Honfleur, the terraced house magically opens out into a magnificent 17th century mansion, complete with fairy-tale folly in the garden, which in turn looks over a town park.
It is run by the warm and friendly American-born Penny Vincent and her French husband Thierry, for whom nothing is too much trouble.
Penny was particularly good with our 8-year-old grand-daughter, and went to great pains to make her (and us!) feel very much at home.
The rooms are quirky and stylish, furnished with gorgeous designer fabrics, and guests have the run of their own sitting-room, complete with complementary night-caps of Calvedos (the house rule is 'Help yourself!')
Breakfast, served 'en famille', is superb, table groaning with local goodies including croissants, speciality breads, brioches, fruit, yogurts- you name it.
We left feeling that we had found a home from home in Honfleur.
Why stay anywhere else?
La Petite Folie is gorgeous! I had the pleasure of staying in the Mauve Room and the Red Apartment, each for one night (after staying one night, we wanted to stay for a second). The decor is out of this world. The beds were so cozy and comfortable with very nice linens. I had breakfast one day, which was delicious. Penny was very helpful in getting a dinner reservation for us at a very nice restaurant. La Petite Folie is in a perfect location with walking access to everything. At night, Penny puts out Calvados and chocolates for the guests. We even received turn down service in the apartment. Everything has such charm and character with all modern conveniences you could ever want.
We've just returned from our trip to Normandy where we spent 2 nights at La Petite Folie in Honfleur and it was truly wonderful – we couldn’t have enjoyed it more.
Penny and Thierry were the most gracious hosts and the property was a real gem. The rooms have been created with wonderful attention to detail – charming décor with terrific French antiques. The entire home is inviting and relaxing – we enjoyed chocolates and Calvados in the evening in the living room, and had a terrific picnic in the garden with food from the local market. Penny even took us to the market on Saturday and introduced us to so many wonderful foods and people that we really felt at home in Honfleur even though we were only there a brief time.
We would highly recommend La Petite Folie to anyone, and the charming town of Honfleur is the perfect place to stay when in Normandy.
You know how you can read these reports and think...this is just too good to be true. Well La Petite Folie is the loveliest house in the loveliest town in Northern France and its run by the loveliest people...Penny is a funny, French speaking New Yorker (“you got a problem with that !”). She and Thierry have attracted an eclectic mix of friends who return "home" here regularly. These two make you feel instantly welcome and just go that extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable, relaxed and memorable as possible. … We just fell in love with the whole experience of La Petite Folie …and we’ll definitely be back home here again soon.
A beautifully restored and tastefully decorated B&B, run with verve by Madame Penny. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. The house is well located in this pretty little port town, and has a large sitting room for guests, which overlooks the lovely garden. Our bedroom was spacious, with a comfortable bed and beautiful linens., and a well appointed bathroom. Breakfasts were generous and varied.

This unpretentious-looking, tucked-away-not-from-the-city-center- home has been beautifully and thougtfully renovated to meet the needs of the most discriminating traveller. Our hostess, Penny, was lovely and gracious. The included breakfast was home made and relaxing. Each guest room is both functional and stylishing decorated with up-to-date fabrics and wallcoverings PLUS a really comfortable bed with Porthault linens! A beautiful garden awaits you in the rear of the property. Bathrooms are new, bright, have great showers and real hand held hair driers (not attached to a wall 50 feet away from the mirror!) Price is very fair. Outside the front door, charming Honfleur awaits you. We loved La Petite Folie and only hope we are lucky enough to return.
