La Maison du Vert: Vegetarian B&B
by rattay
I worked at the Maison du Vert for about three weeks in the spring of 2006. Debbie and Daniel, the owners, are wonderful, witty and charming (no, they did not tell/pay me to say that!) and they pass on this warmth to all of their guests. The building is an old cottage on a beautiful bit of land - Debbie and Daniel used to have a landscaping business - complete with a tea garden, a vegetable garden, an old cider press now used as a chicken coop, and a pond. There are three large rooms, each with their own bathroom and each tastefully decorated. There is a small dining room where the evening meals are served and wow can they cook! All the food is vegetarian (even the cheese for all you hard core veggies out there) and they will accomodate other special diets as well (vegan, no wheat, etc). Working in the kitchen was a blast and I saw first hand the hard work they put into the meals. There is also afternoon tea in the garden or you may choose to have dinner outside on warm evenings. I would absolutely recommend La Maison du Vert to anyone, vegetarian or carnivore alike, just tell them Katherine (with a K) sent you!
Beautiful garden, great views of the valley, nearby walking trails, fresh produce and sometimes eggs laid by the hens, great hosts! Hopefully I'll get my photos up soon!
