La Mas Normand: A hidden gem

by Segolily

What a charming and delightful place this was. Walking distance to Gold Beach, a well furnished, up to date, classy little spot in a small town. We had the upstairs room with a queen bed and a separate room with a twin bed. We ordered dinner ahead of time since it was DH's birthday. The cook outdid himself with delicious scallops, pasta and a special torte. The next morning breakfast was spread and it truly was the best breakfast in France. Good cheese, jams, breads. We were very happy here.

Beautiful furnishings, chosen with love and taste. Good food, Christian will cook dinner if reserved ahead.

Camping Anse du Brick: Great international childrenfriendly camping

by Pavlik_NL

Our Normandian holiday 2006 was spend in our family tent on the splendid camping Anse-du-Brick near Cherbourg (Maupertus-sur-Mer). From here we could reach many places on the Cotentin peninsula, as well as enjoy a great seaview, a wonderful small "privat" beach and a very scenic coastline. The facilities on the camping were excellent, but more about that you can read on my seperate "Maupertus-sur-Mer" pages. Here you can also see some family pictures.

A lovely little 2-star hotel. The staff was exceedingly helpful. Nicely located (may be too far from the train station for those not driving).

La Maison du Vert: Vegetarian B&B

by rattay

I worked at the Maison du Vert for about three weeks in the spring of 2006. Debbie and Daniel, the owners, are wonderful, witty and charming (no, they did not tell/pay me to say that!) and they pass on this warmth to all of their guests. The building is an old cottage on a beautiful bit of land - Debbie and Daniel used to have a landscaping business - complete with a tea garden, a vegetable garden, an old cider press now used as a chicken coop, and a pond. There are three large rooms, each with their own bathroom and each tastefully decorated. There is a small dining room where the evening meals are served and wow can they cook! All the food is vegetarian (even the cheese for all you hard core veggies out there) and they will accomodate other special diets as well (vegan, no wheat, etc). Working in the kitchen was a blast and I saw first hand the hard work they put into the meals. There is also afternoon tea in the garden or you may choose to have dinner outside on warm evenings. I would absolutely recommend La Maison du Vert to anyone, vegetarian or carnivore alike, just tell them Katherine (with a K) sent you!

Beautiful garden, great views of the valley, nearby walking trails, fresh produce and sometimes eggs laid by the hens, great hosts! Hopefully I'll get my photos up soon!

Ferme de la Ranconniere: Fantastic place just off the Coast

by Roadquill

This place was one of the highlights of our France trip. Located in Crepon, a short drive from Bayeax, just turning into the 13th century fortified farm made you feel welcome. The price of 88 euro per person, includes their Terroir menu (three course meal) and a pretty good breakfast spread. Dinner alone was 26 euros, or you could upgrade the meal. The rooms were huge, some with a sitting area. Wonderful antiques all over. An outdoor seating area where we met other guests. Those Bentley owners love to talk. Mostly an older crowd. My wife and I were the youngsters at 50. My dad loved the place and the cat liked my mom. The staff was excellent. This is one place I really would like to return to.

Picard Holidays: All Weather Camping

by freya_heaven

An unusual feature of this site is it being open over winter, pleasant enough site, English owned & run.

There are pitches for tents, caravans/motorhomes & also they have mobile homes. The pool was closed when we visted, but looked good, OK facilities not the best, I felt considering the pool & bar were not open & its November £15.00 a night was a little steep.

Donkeys in the next field & we woke up to chickens running around the outside of the caravan. Freya though it was wonderful feeding them out of the window.

Camping Des Capucines: Camping Des Capucines

by freya_heaven

I liked the privacy of this site, mature hedges around each pitch, friendly management & good heated facilities.

An idea site for exploring the D Day beaches & northen Normandy. Reasonably priced to.

Chateau de St-Charles-de-Percy: Beautiful little chateau in the middle of nowhere

by nheinemans

We only stayed here for 1 night. After traveling along the atlantic coast of Normandy from Caen all the way to Mont-Saint-Michel, we could really use a relaxing night before driving back to Holland. I found this chateau on the internet and surprised my girlfriend with it (and of course she loved it!).

Lovely old chateau which is completely renovated by its current owners. It is very comfortable and most of all, quiet.
