Relais de la Poste: Why We Did Not Stay at the Beach

We found this delightful Inn only 17.5 km from Caen. It is 3*. We wanted a base from which to make day trips to Caen and Bayeux and had the time to Drive around the Suisse Normand area on another day. We do not like beach resorts small or large. It was off-season and because we were taking demi-pension, we were given the suite with a nice view and the best of furnishings (like another honeymoon). The meals were excellent Normandy cooking featuring beef in daubes or stew-like presentations. The dessert at each meal was different and made with apples; of course one dessert was the Tarte normande. We learned about the "Norman trou" which was included.(We will write this up in Basse-Normandie>Customs). We have had New Jersey Apple-Jack before but this has an "aged" flavor and like any good brandy, was easy to sip neat. The experience is 20 years old and still vividly retained.

Unique Quality: The food and the ambience were worth the trip. (Michelin gives it 2 forks).
