Serein Valley Wine - Bourgogne Chabris

"The Only Chabris Wine"

All wines in the appellations are white wines from Chardonnay grapes. The Grand Crus of Chablis are connected on a chain of three interlocking slopes on the right bank overlooking the Serein river. The seven Grand Cru vineyards are (from southeast to northwest): Blanchot, Les Clos, Valmur, Grenouilles, Vaudesir, Les Preuses and Bougros. The Premier Crus are situated on a series of hillsides both on the left and right side of the river.

The soil is a unique combination of clay and chalk called Kimmeridgian, and it is profusely littered by fossils of comma-shaped oysters. It gives the wines a unique profile of aromas and flavors.

Chablis for the wine and romance

Chablis, like most of my other entries in the area must have it stated that it is a small country side area in the middle of vineyards.

With that said, for a romantic get away, wine, vineyard tours and leisurely strolling the country side, Chablis is perfect.

Chablis was among the last of our stops during the barge cruise. We came here after Tonnerre, with only one more night to spend in Auxerre before returning to Paris.
