Travel Tips for Brest

Les poissons parlent le Breton...

by Porteplume

Brittany is a large peninsular, bordered at the north by the English Channel and at the west by the Atlantic Ocean. From the beginning of time, this landscape has had to resist the ravages of nature and history.
Along the channel coast, the land is cut into fjords, which the Bretons call Abers. The powerful waves of the Atlantic crash along Brittany’s southern beaches.

“Fish speak Breton here...”, said the American writer Jack Kerouac , who had Breton origins.

Packing List

by sandravdp

Bring a handy sportsbag or something like that. Dress lightly, bring a sweater/light coat and some trousers for when the evening gets cold. Bring along suncream and anti-mosquito spray. You will need it. Good film for your camera is available here. Filmdevelopment is possible too, but my experience is that it's always better at home. Take a tent or caravan with you or hire one on the spot by booking at your local travelagency.

Pretty Brittany

by maryamy

If you like peace and quiet, and enjoy sailing, beaches and wonderful Frenchness, then this could be the place for you. Like its big sister Great Britain, Brittany or Bretagne suffers from the Atlantic Ocean weather, but to a warmer and better degree than the island I live on!
You will love the gallettes, pancakes, cider and seafood here.
Mind you, I love France as a country and am completely torn between all the wonderful things it has to offer and its different regions.
