MUSEE DES PHARES ET BALISES
by Toyin
The was actually the objective area. We had to walk for more than one hour on the Island to get here. We had a tour of the musee, but the lady on duty was very scared of cameras, so unfortunately , you have to visit here to experience the amazing sea culture and history.
The exhibition covers extensively the period, which, with Augustin Fresnel (1788-1828) began, the "Siècle des Lumières". Established in the former power station of the Créac'h lighthouse, the "Centre d'Interprétation des Phares et Balises" is dedicated to the history and techniques of maritime signalling since antiquity.
Very interesting place especially to sea fearers.

"City with a fort (or fortress)"
Brest is centered around the port and the fort, which can be visited. It isn't the most charming nor attractive city in the world but it has a unique personality. Its charm is the food (dessert, seafood and some strong cheese) and casual atmosphere... A lot of students seem to go out at night, too.
"Authentic/origninal Crepe"
People in Brest is very proud of the famous Crepe. I had the seafood (no sugar or chocolate!) one called Saint Jacque. It was the best crepe I ever had! And one must eat that with the Brest's own apple cider (alcohol content around 5%) which goes really well with Crepes... I love visiting France; cuisines are always pleasure :-) Yes, the authentic crepes should be folded to square!
"Serious matter when it comes to a bakery..."
People in Brest take bakeries very seriously. Just look at this lady's face...
