Liberty is the key
by bzh
The key to quickly learn how to navigate Brest is to remember where the Place de la Liberté (Liberty Square) is. From there start the two main streets, Rue de Siam and Rue Jean Jaurès that form Brest's central axis. From there, you can also easily reach the train and coach station, as well as the harbour. All buses stop or terminate at Place de la Liberté. The square is also where you will find the town hall, the main tourist office and a large underground car park.
See the old German WW II lookouts

If you take a few moments to drive to the sea side, you will witness where many German soldiers were "condemned" to live while they guarded their new territories in France. It was slightly depressing, but very real.
Mont St. Michel
by Pamela_Peace
Visit one of France's most unbelievable sites - aweinspiring Mont St. Michel. Reknowned for its lamb which takes a unique flavor from the ocean-fed pastures, this unique village consists of one long, winding cobblestone path crowded with brasseries serving moules et frites (mussels and fries), patisseries which bake 'Gateau de Bretagne'(a luscious butter cookie), and the usual tourist shops. At high tide, this monestary-town becomes an enchanted island, totally surrounded by the Atlantic. If you can pinch pennies elsewhere on your trip, it's worth the splurge to stay here, especially on a stormy night with someone you enjoy being close to!
