It has been a while since I stayed at Les Ralais, however, I thought everyone who goes to europe should know about this great place. August is the best time to go. Perfect weather. The city is located on an Isle that is easy to get to. Carantec is located approximately 4 1/2 west of Paris on the ocean. I stayed at the Les Ralais hotel for about $50.00 per night. That included the room and three meals a day. Plan on eating all three meals there. The only part of my meal was that wasn't included was the wine. The house wine ($3.00) a bottle was great. They will hold the bottle after each meal and bring it back each meal. If you chose to take a trip to one of the neighbor towns and you know you won't be back for lunch, let them know and they will pack a lunch for you. Out of courtesy, you need to let them know what meals you won't be there for. They are all friendly and by the end of the week, I was doing the kiss on each cheek as I walked in the door. A short walk and you are at the ocean with little islands all around and lots of places to get a tan on their beaches. There are also little restaurants throughout. I loved this place so much I went back 2 years in a row and we are now looking to take our whole family. Remeber in France that the beds are singles and the rooms are small. But I didn't spend any time in my room except to sleep. Bon Voyage and Bon appetit. As you go into the shops, the first thing you need to do is find the owners and say hello (Bon Jour). Many can speak a little english and I got along with my 5 french word vocabulary.
The flowers in this town are wonderful and the view is fantastic. Sand volleyball, basketball, golf, hiking, and good people. Enjoy and relax. In the evenings, I actually got to bury myself in a book and felt totally at home.
