La Maison Blanche is situated right on the banks of the Oust river in the village of Malestroit. The hosts are superb and they do an amazing job. When we arrived they had apertifs for us and gave us great ideas about where to go in town for just about everything. The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean and they have a nice terrace where Jean keeps an amazing Garden and where you can sit and have tea overlooking the spillway near the old mill. The sound of running water was so peaceful the whole time we were here. I found this place on the internet while searching for a place to stay that was in close proximity to Josselin.
Jean and Adrian speak English, French and German. (English is their first language as they are British) They serve a French breakfast complete with fresh fruit each morning and are willing to let you explore Malestroit on your own but will also give you fantastic recommendations on what to do. They also will gladly make reservations for you at any of the eight restaurants in the village. The house itself is very old and has a historic plaque on the side which tells the story of the La Dame Blanche of Malestroit who once lived there. There are three comfy rooms total, one with two single beds and another two, each with full beds.
