Kissing on the cheeks: help!
Of course, the French custom of kissing people on the cheeks (se faire la bise) is widely practised here, even if the photos of Breton dances have let you think that Breizh is not France. Well, I realized that Plestin-les-Grèves is one of the places where the numbers of kisses to exchange varies the most and the most often. It shares this "record" only with Guimiliau. After seeing people greet at the folkloric evening, at Mass and at the market, I drew the conclusion that two kisses is the most common option (unlike in Guimiliau), even four kisses or one kiss are not rare; instead, three kisses is the most unusual choice. However, many people who attended the folkloric evening may have come from other villages, so that could be the cause of such a variation.
