Rennes - Accomodation

I am going to Rennes for 5 days next December. I am looking for an economic hotel as I have a budget of about 25EUros per night. Does anyone have any idea where I could stay? Thanks

I couldn't find anything in that budget range. The closest I found was Hotel Arvor http://www.arvorhotel.com/ at 40.50 euros a night. The site is only in French but you can get it in English at the Logis de France site http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk
Just type in Rennes and it will be listed under Bretagne. There were two budget hotels but the Arvor was right downtown by the train station so it seemed more practical.
I have not stayed there and am not recommending it except to say that we have used the Logis de France hotels for years and they have all been acceptable at the very worst. Some have been utterly charming and most are very nice hotels. Their reservation system is reliable.
At your budget, you should consider a youth hostel. Since there's a university in Rennes, there must be a youth hostel.
Just a suggestion. Have a good trip.

Palais du Parlement de Bretagne

These pictures show the Palais du Parlement de Bretagne, ("Palace of the Breton Parliament") that houses today the Palais de Justice.
This building was built between 1618 and 1655 on Salomon de Brosse's projects. It has had a troubled history: after it survived to the huge fire that destroyed most parts of the town in 1720, another fire destroyed almost completely in 1994. Afterwards, it was rebuilt and some of its beautiful decorations and sculptures have been recovered.
I didn't visit the palace inside because I had little time. I don't know if it is possible to visit it, either.

This is my true hometown, a great student-driven pueblo with lots and lots of cultural opportunities during the year and festivals in the summer. The old town is beautiful too and you should not miss the Saturday morning market!!
