Bus to and from St. Michel

by rchitekt

I have seen the timetable for a bus to the Mont St. Michel from Rennes. But it shows only upto August 30. I will be in Rennes on September 29 around 10:30 in the morning. Will there be a bus to go the Mont?

I want to come back to Rennes next morning to catch a train to Paris around 11 am. Will there be a bus which will bring me back to catch that train ?

What will be the weather around that time of the year? What is the best spot to photograph the Mont at sunset or sunrise?

I suspect that the bus timetable does not carry data too far in advance (and services may change slightly after the end of August). Check the site again in a few weeks' time.

The site makes it clear the service runs all year round:

No-one can predict the weather with any certainty. Climate stats for Rennes might give you a rough idea:

The problem you'll have to find the best spot is that if you don't have a car you will have trouble getting to these places. For my money, the best place probably for sunset is as Pedro says, on the coast going up to Avranches. For sunrise the best place is along the coast near the "Chapelle Ste. Anne" but you won't find any buses going there.

Due to extreme climatic changes the World is experiencing at the moment, trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local, on the day variations.
Most places now are seeing weather conditions well outside the norm.
The information below should be used as a guide only.

Travel Tips for Rennes

Jardin du Thabor

by Mikebond

The Jardin du Thabor is the park of Rennes, the lungs of the town. However, don't think it is just a park with trees and some benches. No, no, no! This is a religious place, not because it belonged to the Benedictines who gave it the name of the byblical Palestinian mount, but because it's so peaceful, a kind of little heaven. It's also an artistic garden: here and there you will see beautiful white statues of Goddesses and other characters. And what about the wonderful flowers that decorate the garden? No words. This is the place you have to visit in Rennes.

Cathedrale St-Pierre

by Maximilian21

the Cathedrale St-Pierre, completed in 1844 is one of the main religious monuments in the city. It is an imposing structure where i would go to on occasions to have some quiet time or a pray.
I do remeber having some really good conversations here and often with the most supprising people. Homeless people occasionally wander in (but ususally stay on the steps with their dogs)and i recall always wanting to have a yarn with them.
